Find out where the heat is actually going — before you spend a euro on upgrades.
An ENCON assessor spends time in the house, not ten minutes at the door.
Most people start a home energy upgrade with a solution already in mind. A heat pump. Solar panels. New windows. Sometimes that instinct is right. Often it isn’t, and the money would have done more somewhere else entirely.
An assessment takes the guesswork out of it. We survey the building as it stands, measure how it performs, and tell you in plain terms which upgrades will make the biggest difference to your comfort and your bills — and in what order to do them. The survey covers:
A written report, not a verbal summary you half-remember a week later.
Where your home stands now. Current performance, current BER, and the specific weak points pulling it down.
What to do about it, in order. Upgrades ranked by impact, with the sequencing that matters. Insulating before you size a heat pump means a smaller unit and a cheaper running cost. Doing it the other way round means an oversized system and a bill you’re stuck with for fifteen years.
What it will cost and what’s available. Indicative costs for each measure, and which SEAI grant routes your home qualifies for. We handle the grant side as part of our One Stop Shop service, so you’re not left deciphering application forms.
From insulation to heat pumps, ventilation and more. Improve comfort, lower bills and increase your BER rating.
New builds, extensions and deep retrofits, fully managed from design and planning through to construction and completion.
High-quality solar panel systems for homes, farms and businesses. Lower energy costs and gain energy independence.
Energy upgrades and construction solutions for commercial, agricultural and public sector projects.
An assessment carried out by whoever is also selling you the product is not really an assessment. Ours is carried out by qualified assessors working to SEAI and NSAI standards, and the recommendations follow the building — not whatever we’d most like to install.
Sometimes that means telling a homeowner their attic is already well insulated and their money is better spent on walls. That conversation is cheaper for everyone than the alternative.
Because ENCON delivers the work as well as the survey, the assessment feeds straight into design and installation. The same team that measured the house specifies the upgrades, applies for the grants, coordinates the trades and signs off the finished job. Nothing is lost in a handover, and there’s one number to ring if something isn’t right. We work with homeowners across Ireland from our base in Waterford, with particularly deep coverage across the South East.
Not quite. A BER gives you a rating based on a standardised methodology. Our assessment includes the BER data but goes further — it’s a practical survey of what’s wrong and what to do about it, with costs attached.
Typically two to three hours on site for an average home, depending on size and access. The written report follows within a few working days.
No. The report is yours. Most people do come back to us, but there’s no obligation built into the assessment.
Yes, and it’s one of the smartest things you can do before signing. Knowing the upgrade cost of a period property changes what it’s worth to you.
