On a new roof, solar should be part of it — not bolted on after.
Specified at design stage, it costs far less than the same system retrofitted.
On a new build or a re-roof, solar should be part of the roof rather than an afterthought bolted to it. Roof.Fit integrates the array into the roof covering itself, so the panels sit flush within the roof plane and form part of the weatherproof layer.
Specified at design stage, this costs substantially less than the same system retrofitted later. The panels displace tiles or slates you would otherwise be buying and fitting, the roof structure is designed for the array from the start, and the electrical routes are planned alongside the rest of the services rather than chased in afterwards.
It also looks like it was meant to be there, which on an architect-designed house or a planning-sensitive site is not a small consideration.
Roof, airtightness, heat pump and electrics, planned together.
On a design and build project, the array is one of several systems that have to work together:
Coordinating these on paper takes an afternoon. Coordinating them on site after the fact takes considerably longer and rarely ends as neatly.
From insulation to heat pumps, ventilation and more. Improve comfort, lower bills and increase your BER rating.
New builds, extensions and deep retrofits, fully managed from design and planning through to construction and completion.
High-quality solar panel systems for homes, farms and businesses. Lower energy costs and gain energy independence.
Energy upgrades and construction solutions for commercial, agricultural and public sector projects.
An integrated array is part of the building’s weatherproofing, so the flashing kit, underlay dressing and perimeter junctions carry the same responsibility as the tiles around them. Treated as an electrical job with some roofing attached, that’s where problems start.
We install these as roofing work, by the team building the roof, with the electrical installation coordinated into it. There’s no handover point between two trades where each assumes the other has the junction covered.
New dwellings must demonstrate a renewable energy contribution, and solar PV is the most common way to meet it. Integrating it into the roof design from the outset means the compliance route is settled early rather than solved late with a bolt-on array.
Domestic solar PV grant support applies to eligible properties regardless of mounting type. We confirm eligibility and handle the application and the ESB Networks notification.
At design stage, clearly. It’s cheaper, it looks better, and the structural and electrical provisions are made once.
Yes. It contributes to the renewable energy requirement like any other PV installation.
Marginally, because integrated panels run warmer. We allow for it in the yield figures we give you.
Yes, if space, ventilation and cabling are allowed for now. We design that in as standard.
Our own roofing and electrical teams, under the same contract as the rest of the build.
