Fully funded energy upgrades for eligible households. No contribution, no loan.
Free upgrades for homes that need them most, funded in full by SEAI.
The Warmer Homes Scheme is SEAI’s fully funded upgrade programme. For households that qualify, the energy upgrades are carried out free of charge — there is no contribution and no loan.
It exists to take the worst-performing homes owned by people on low incomes out of energy poverty. The work is substantial: depending on what the survey finds, it can include attic insulation, cavity or internal wall insulation, draught proofing, lagging jackets, energy-efficient lighting and, in some cases, heating and ventilation measures.
Eligibility is tied to receipt of certain social welfare payments and to the home being built and occupied before a set date. The qualifying payment list is set by government and changes periodically, so the only reliable answer is a current eligibility check — which we’re happy to run through with you.
Applications go to SEAI directly, and the survey sets the scope.
Applications go directly to SEAI rather than through a contractor. Once an application is accepted the home is surveyed, a works package is specified, and a contractor appointed from SEAI’s panel.
Two things are worth knowing going in:
If a household doesn’t qualify, that isn’t the end of it. Individual grants and the One Stop Shop route are both open, and we’ll walk you through what each would mean in practice.
From insulation to heat pumps, ventilation and more. Improve comfort, lower bills and increase your BER rating.
New builds, extensions and deep retrofits, fully managed from design and planning through to construction and completion.
High-quality solar panel systems for homes, farms and businesses. Lower energy costs and gain energy independence.
Energy upgrades and construction solutions for commercial, agricultural and public sector projects.
We work on Warmer Homes upgrades and we’ve seen what they do for a house. A cold, damp home with no insulation and a struggling heating system becomes a home that holds its heat, costs less to run and stops growing mould in the corners of bedrooms.
The work is carried out to the same SEAI and NSAI standards as any paid upgrade. Free of charge does not mean lower specification.
The application is made to SEAI directly. If you’re unsure whether a household qualifies, or you’re applying on behalf of a parent or relative and want a hand with it, ring us on 051 850722 and we’ll talk you through it. There’s no charge for that conversation and no obligation attached to it.
For eligible households, yes. The upgrades are fully funded with no contribution from the homeowner.
Eligibility is based on receipt of certain social welfare payments, plus conditions on when the home was built and occupied. The qualifying list is set by government and changes, so check the current criteria with SEAI or ask us.
It has historically been long and it moves with demand. Applying sooner rather than later is the only real lever you have.
No. The survey determines the works package based on what the building needs.
Individual energy upgrade grants and the One Stop Shop route are both available, and low-cost finance is worth looking at alongside them.
