Encon, a leading Building, Retrofit & Renewables Contractor in Ireland, continues to expand its delivery of high quality retrofit and energy efficiency projects in the South Eastern Region. As part of this growth, Encon is seeking a Retrofit Quality Inspector to support domestic retrofit and energy upgrade programmes across multiple schemes and standards.
This role plays a key part in ensuring that retrofit works are delivered to the highest technical, safety, and quality standards while supporting national sustainability and climate action objectives.
Role Overview
The Retrofit Quality Inspector is a field based quality assurance role responsible for inspecting completed retrofit and energy efficiency works in domestic properties. The role ensures that all works comply with applicable codes of practice, technical standards, scheme requirements, and regulatory obligations.
This position combines technical inspection, reporting, customer engagement, and collaboration with contractors and internal teams.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Carry out post completion inspections on domestic properties following retrofit and energy efficiency works
- Ensure all inspections are completed in line with applicable codes of practice, technical standards, specifications, and scheme requirements
- Accurately complete inspection reports and associated documentation using electronic and paper based systems
- Provide clear technical feedback and explain inspection findings to internal teams and site personnel
- Deliver a high standard of customer service in line with Encon’s quality, safety, and conduct standards
- Complete follow up activities including phone calls, emails, and administrative tasks
- Attend training courses and continuous professional development as required
- Work in accordance with Encon’s policies, procedures, and professional standards
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by management
Requirements
- FETAC Level 6 qualification in a relevant construction, building services, or retrofit discipline, such as: Plumbing, Electrical, Building Services Engineering/Construction/ Civil/Sustainable Energy Engineering
- Strong knowledge and experience in construction and/or retrofit works
- Good working knowledge of retrofit standards, codes of practice, and applicable scheme requirements
- Ability to inspect and assess completed works against technical specifications and quality standards
- A strong eye for detail and a structured, methodical approach
- Confidence communicating with homeowners, installers, and colleagues
- Good computer literacy and confidence using digital inspection and reporting systems
- Ability to manage workload effectively in a field-based role, with the capacity to work independently while contributing to a wider team
- Full, clean driving licence
Desirable
- RGII qualification
- Heat Pump Installer training or certification
- QC/Safe Electric Registered
- Familiarity with NSAI-certified systems and relevant Irish Standards for retrofit works
- CIOB/Engineers Ireland Registration
