Home Energy Assessment – HEA

We assess your home using the BER Certification process and the SEAI Technical Assessment process — then produce a clear, step-by-step Energy Road Map from where you are now to where you can go.

What we assess in your home

A full examination of your home's energy performance

During your HEA our assessor carries out a thorough on-site inspection across four core areas, building a complete evidence-based picture of where energy is lost and where improvements can be made.

Building Fabric

Walls, roof, floors, and junctions examined for insulation quality, continuity, and thermal bridging. The fabric is the foundation of any energy-efficient home.

Building Heat Loss

We measure and calculate the rate at which your home loses heat — through the fabric, windows, doors, and uncontrolled air infiltration — to identify the greatest sources of waste.

Heating & Ventilation Systems

Your heat source, controls, distribution, and ventilation are assessed for efficiency and compatibility with future low-carbon technologies such as heat pumps.

Orientation of Your Home

The orientation of your home determines solar gain and suitability for renewables. We assess aspect and shading to identify opportunities for solar PV or thermal systems.

How We Measure

From your current BER rating to where you can go

We use two complementary processes to give you a recognised energy rating and a detailed technical picture of your home’s performance.

BER Certification

Your Recognised Energy Rating

The BER certificate provides a standardised A–G rating based on calculated energy use per square metre per year. It is the benchmark used across Ireland to compare homes and qualify for SEAI grants.

SEAI Technical Assessment

Your Detailed Technical Picture

The SEAI Technical Assessment analyses individual measures, their cost, projected savings, and impact on your BER rating. This forms the evidence base for your personalised Energy Road Map.

Your Energy Road Map

A clear, step-by-step plan - followed at your own pace

Assessment findings are brought together in a personalised Energy Road Map: a prioritised set of recommendations you can follow in full or in part, depending on your goals, budget, and timeline.

Option A

Deep Retrofit

Follow the full road map in a coordinated programme of works — transforming your home and achieving the highest possible BER rating.

  • Comprehensive fabric upgrade — walls, roof, floor → High-performance windows and doors
  • Heat pump and mechanical ventilation
  • Renewable energy integration
  • Eligible for maximum SEAI grant support

Option B

Individual Energy Upgrades

Pick and implement measures from your road map one at a time. Each improvement delivers real savings and keeps your options open for future works.

  • Attic or roof insulation as a first step
  • Wall insulation — internal, external, or cavity
  • Heating controls and boiler upgrade
  • Window and door replacement
  • Each measure grant-eligible independently
